Anika's newest trick

This morning Mary called me into Anika's room. She had gone in to wake Anika up so she could feed her. Sometime during the night Anika did a 180. When we put her down last night her head was towards the closet, when she woke up her head was at the opposite end of the crib.

Let the rolling, crawling, getting into things games commence!

5 Month slacking

I have been slacking in my duties, Anika turned 5 months back on March 6th and I have yet to post the photo.

So what has changed in the last month and a half? Well she has graduated from giving us rasberries when she is unhappy to actual whining. One thing that hasn't changed is that she still sleeps through the night.

What's changed for Mary and I? For one thing we now eat dinner at 7:00. Anika is usually eating by 5:30 and goes down around 7:00 at that time we are finally free to eat together.

More photos to come later...ok one more before I go.

It never fails...

Burp clothes are basically useless. What you really need is a rain poncho. While getting burped Anika doesn't hang over our shoulders, she props herself up so she can look around. Of course just as she turns her head away from the shoulder she is facing, she projectile spits across to the other side, leaving a trail of spit up all the way down your shirt.

High Tech Desk

Areas at Thomson are switching out their cubicles for work areas with just desks. The problem is that they are to low for me. So facilities needed to come up with a solution. I figured they would just order longer legs or use blocks to build up the table, but no, I show up for work and my table is the same height. That's when I noticed the switch on the bottom of the desk. Push the switch to the right and the desk rises, to the left and it lowers. The put my desk on hydraulics.

Here is what everyone comes for, another picture of Anika

Ups and Downs

On Saturday we went to Mary's parents place, Anika decided she didn't really want to nap. While it didn't seem to be a big deal at the time because she was pretty happy during the day. Well, we paid for it on Sunday. Again she wouldn't nap and she was quite crabby and cried for a good half hour before we could finally get her down at 2:00. That was the downs.

At about 4:00 the ups decided to make an appearance. Anika has been working on rolling over for weeks. We work on it during the changing of her diapers since it is easier to do while she is naked. Basically she could roll on her side and that was about it. Today she roller over all on her own. That was the ups!

As a side note, I came close to getting divorced. Mary made cookies for the neighbors and I told her to take them over by herself while I changed Anika. While she was gone I decided to do rolling time with Anika. Of course she rolled over while Mary was gone. Mary thinks I planned it that way, luckily she rolled over two more times when Mary got home.

How did you spend your presidents day...

I started my morning by meeting some friends for breakfast at the St. Clair Broiler in St. Paul. After that Mary, Anika and I met the McVays at the Minnesota Zoo. It was crazy when we got there, the line to get in was all the way out to the parking lot. They opened up a side door to let members in and get the lines moving so people didn't have to stay out in the cold. Needless to say it was crowded inside and it was hard to move, we almost had stroller grid lock.

I toted Anika around in the Baby Bjorn she apparently enjoyed it (I couldn't see her face, I was told she was having a good time )

Towards the end she was getting tired, but overall she did a great job and never fussed

Later on when we got home, we put her in her doorway jumper chair.

While Anika was great at the zoo, when she got home she wouldn't take her nap and was kind of cranky. So I took her to Rainbow to get some groceries and give Mary a break so she could catch up on some of her work. Amazingly while Anika was cranky at home, as soon as we got in the car and headed to the store, she was great.
